Rediscover the Joy of Movement
When movement feels like play instead of punishment, it becomes something you look forward to, and keep.
The Why
Why It Matters
Somewhere along the way, movement can start to feel like one more obligation, or even a punishment for something you ate or a number on a scale. It does not have to be that way. When you find activity you genuinely enjoy, it stops being a task to check off and becomes something you look forward to.
The Essentials
What to Know
Life gets busy, and that is normal
Many people were active and playful earlier in life, then found that work, commutes, and caring for others crowded out the time and energy for it. If that sounds familiar, you are in good company. Recognizing the barriers is the first step toward gently working around them, one small choice at a time.
Look back to move forward
Your past experiences with movement (the good and the not-so-good) can point you toward what will actually stick now.
Movement as something you get to do
Try shifting the frame from “I have to exercise” to “I get to move.” Dancing in the kitchen, a walk with a friend, gardening, or playing with your kids all count. When activity feels like play, you are far more likely to keep it in your life.
Your Turn
Try This
Spend a few minutes reflecting on your history with movement and what might bring the joy back.
