The All-IN Champion Rubric
How your effort adds up over the year, and how buildings earn All-IN recognition
Your milestones
You have one score and three milestones. Reach all three and you are recognized as an All-IN Champion, with a certificate of recognition and a spotlight in the Champion Newsletter.
All twelve core Champion Lessons complete, and your building resource inventory submitted. Both sit entirely in your hands, and lessons are due by Friday, November 20.
Your three check-ins arrive by their dates, and your Monthly Building Update goes in each month. If one slips, the next one puts you back on track.
You have sent us an INtegrate story or earned any extra credit. The first one you earn lights this milestone.
How your year adds up
Meeting and outcome points, including challenge and Blocks participation, are added by your Liaison as the year unfolds, so your season total will read higher than a count of your own submissions alone.
A running total is not something you can view. Your Liaison can tell you where your building stands at any point in the year.
If something looks missing: a Liaison-added item catches up as the year moves along. If something you sent is not reflected, email the NuStart Team and say which item it was, and we will sort it out and let you know.
The four areas
Your lessons, council, and Monthly Building Updates.
Participation and results in your building.
Working with leaders and fellow Champions.
The steady habits of the role.
Buildings earn their medal by how many of the 25 All-IN criteria they meet across the year. Gold is 23 or more, with at least 7 in each of the three areas.
The 25 criteria, grouped by area. Your chief building administrator confirms these each spring.
Area 1: Social Well-Being and Community Outreach (9 criteria)
1. Does your building keep a staff wellness board or display in a space every employee passes, with material that has been refreshed within the last month?
2. Does your building run a staff recognition or appreciation practice on a regular schedule, at least once a month, rather than only at the end of the year?
3. Has your building held at least one staff connection opportunity this semester, scheduled at a time employees on every shift could reach?
4. Is your staff break space available for breaks throughout the day, rather than doubling as a meeting room, workroom or storage space?
5. Outside of the INtegrate challenges, has your building run at least one of its own healthy living activities for staff this school year?
6. Does wellness information reach employees who are not on the classroom bell schedule (food service, custodial, transportation, maintenance, office and night staff) by a route that does not depend on attending an after-school meeting?
7. Has your chief building administrator taken part in a staff wellness activity this semester, alongside staff and visibly?
8. Is staff wellness a standing item on a building leadership or all-staff meeting agenda at least once a quarter?
9. Has your chief building administrator signed the current INtegrate School Pledge?
Area 2: Mental and Emotional Well-Being (8 criteria)
10. Has your building offered stress management or wellbeing education to staff at least once this school year, during contract time, at a time employees on every shift could reach?
11. Can staff find a current list of local health, counseling and district employee assistance resources without asking anyone for it, checked within the past year?
12. Have staff in your building been shown at least one regulation or stress-reduction practice they can use for themselves during the workday, rather than only with students?
13. Does your building’s professional development plan for this year include at least one session on staff wellbeing, with a date on the calendar?
14. Has your chief building administrator completed training on supporting employee mental health and wellbeing at work?
15. Does your building have a routine for checking in with staff about workload and support that runs on a stated schedule, and do staff know what that schedule is?
16. Does your building have a wellness or resiliency team that meets at least monthly and includes at least one member who is not a certified teacher?
17. Is your INtegrate Champion given time during contract hours for Champion work, and a route that reaches every employee in the building?
Area 3: Physical Well-Being (8 criteria)
18. Is drinking water available within a short walk of every staff work area, including portables, kitchens, garages, bus lots and outdoor posts?
19. Does your building allow students and staff to carry water bottles throughout the workday?
20. Does your building offer opportunities or training for teachers and staff to build physical activity into their own workday, not just for students?
21. Are your building’s spaces (gym, track, walking route, weight room, commons) open to staff outside student use, with the available times published where staff will see them?
22. Does your building offer at least one staff physical activity option, scheduled at a time employees on every shift can reach it?
23. Does your building make room in the workday for staff to move, breathe or step outside, and have staff been told they may?
24. Does every employee in your building have a scheduled uninterrupted break of at least 30 minutes, including staff whose role has no natural break in it?
25. Wherever food or drink is sold or provided to staff (vending, the staff lounge, catered meetings), is water available and at least one option that is not sugar-sweetened?
What earns points
| Item | How it’s measured | Max |
|---|---|---|
| Training & engagement | 35 | |
| Required training (12 core Champion Lessons) | The twelve core lessons, scored on how many you have finished. Six of twelve earns about half the points. | 15 |
| Coordinated Health Council participation | Council meetings you attend. Letting your Liaison know ahead of time when you cannot make one counts too. | 4 |
| Monthly Building Update | A short reflection you send once a month, about a minute, worth 2 points each time. It is also where you tell us the month’s staff communication went out and your wellness station was refreshed, so one form covers all three. | 16 |
| Building outcomes | 25 | |
| Challenge participation | How much of your staff joins in each week, on average, across the fall challenge and the spring challenge, worth 6 points each. Buildings are compared with others of similar size, so a small building is not measured against a large one. | 12 |
| Challenge retention | How many of the people who started a challenge are still taking part at the end of it, worth 3 points for the fall challenge and 3 for the spring. | 6 |
| NuStart Blocks participation | How many of your staff finish at least one NuStart Block. Around one in ten earns about half the points, and one in five earns the full 7. | 7 |
| Collaboration & connection | 20 | |
| Collaboration with building leaders | Activities co-run with administration and leaders | 7 |
| Collaboration with other Champions | Anything you plan or run together with a Champion from another building, from a shared idea you both use to a joint event. | 7 |
| Resources shared with staff | Months you pass along a NuStart guide, recipe, or handout to your building. This row is about the materials you share; the communication row below is about the message going out at all. | 6 |
| Consistency & follow-through | 20 | |
| Liaison check-ins | Three check-ins across the year, 2 points each. The points are tied to the deadline, so a check-in that is not submitted by its date cannot be credited later. | 6 |
| Building-unique events | Challenges, workshops, or events you host | 5 |
| Your building’s All-IN level | Your building’s recognition level: Honorable Mention 1, Bronze 2, Silver 3, Gold 4. This one reflects the whole building’s year, so it moves with everyone’s effort rather than yours alone. | 4 |
| Communication cadence | Months in which at least one wellness message reached your staff, in whatever form suits your building: an email, a note in a staff meeting, or a post where your building already talks. You record it in your Monthly Building Update. | 3 |
| Wellness Station | Keeping a wellness station going through the year. The digital station is the standard one, and a physical bulletin board station is a nice optional addition. | 1 |
| Staff wellness survey | Asking your staff what they would like to see, so the year is planned around what people actually want. | 1 |
| Total | 100 | |
Extra credit
Extra credit sits on top of the 100-point base, up to 12 points of it. Six optional advanced lessons are available, and your INtegrate stories count here too. The first extra credit you earn lights your Leading milestone.
| Item | How it’s measured | Max |
|---|---|---|
| Optional extra-credit lessons | 1.5 points for each optional advanced lesson you finish, up to six of them. | 9 |
| INtegrate stories | Send us a story about something that worked in your building. Each one earns 3 points, and we share them with every Champion in the monthly Champion Newsletter. | 3 each, within the 12 |
| Extra credit available | 12 | |
