The idea, put to work

This is the heart of INtegrate in practice: make the healthy choice the easier choice. Willpower runs out, but a well-set-up building keeps working all day. When the healthy option is visible, close, and simple to grab, people take it without much thought. Your job is not to push people to try harder. It is to arrange the space so the easy choice is also the healthier one. And you do it by working with what your building already has, not by adding something separate.

Simple nudges you can influence

A nudge is a small change to the environment that gently points toward the healthier option. A few you can shape:

• Make it visible and convenient. Put water and a healthy snack option where people already are, easy to reach at meetings and events, so the good choice is the first one they see.
• Set the default. Ask that catering and staff-meeting food default to a healthier spread, and offer a walking meeting instead of a sit-down one when it fits.
• Add cues and placement. A friendly sign by the stairs, a visible Wellness Station near foot traffic, or a reminder where people pause can prompt the choice in the moment.
• Nudge the norm. Suggest a few minutes for movement in a longer meeting, or help set healthier meeting norms so the group carries the habit, not one person.

Integrate, do not add

Every one of these works best when it rides along with something that already happens. You are not creating a new event. You are changing how an existing meeting, event, or hallway works, just a little, to get a better result. Small environmental changes beat big plans that lean on motivation, because the change stays in place after the enthusiasm fades. Pick one spot, make the healthy choice the easy one there, and let it do the work for you.
